The animated Dr. Seuss adaptation, featuring the voices of Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Danny DeVito, is on pace for $40 million. Meanwhile, "John Carter," starring Taylor Kitsch as a 19th century soldier turned Martian hero, is expected to open to $26 million or so.
Third place should belong to "Project X," with the high school party movie projected to earn $11 million. "Act of Valor" ($7.5 million) will likely finish #4, with Eddie Murphy’s "A Thousand Words" ($6 million) and horror film "Silent House" ($6 million) debuting to weak numbers.
